Since my initial posting I’ve made an interesting find, I may have stumbled across the names of the those responsible for the introduction of the dance into popular culture, both here and abroad (see source to right).

The pages I am adding to this post constitute the only other publications I am currently aware of that contain step descriptions (if you know of any other source please do share).  With this and the previous post it is my hope that other will be able to reconstruct this dance. If there is enough interest I personally will take the time to do an instructional video breakdown and post it here. All images if clicked on will open in a separate tab and allow you to read them in a high resolution.

Below is an embedded video of the Lulu Fado mixer as taught by fellow social dance historian Susan de Guardiola.  The recreation was based upon footage from the 1916 film short “On With The Dance” featuring dance instructors Clay Bassett and Catherine Elliott demonstrating the Lulu Fado.

Mrs. Guardiola’s  blog “Capering & Kickery”  is an excellent academic level resource which I highly recommend looking into. As a historian your goal is to provide historically accurate information and source/cite preferably primary sources (i.e. first person accounts). Susan de Guardiola does this in her postings and as such deserves respect for her contributions.
