Welcome To DanceHistorian.com

The personal blog of expert social dance historian Forrest Outman. The purpose of this blog is to make available academic level research with quality sources that are cited and disclosed. After of over a decade compiling data I felt compelled to share my findings, after all, what is the point if not to share?

How to Use This Blog:

1. Sign up for updates

If you are here then you are already interested in dance history, and as such will enjoy getting a heads up on articles, vintage documents, period video, sheet music, and original recordings for dancers. To stay informed follow me on Facebook, Twitter, or this Blog via RSS.

2. Searchable Tagging

You've got to love technology (when it works). This blog will have all articles tagged for content i.e. Search for Tango and anything I post and tag as Tango will pop right up!

3. Comment, Share, and Donate

If you have something to say, share, or a question on a topic please leave a comment.

Do you have an great source: know someone worth interviewing, vintage sheet music, video clip, relevant dance music, instruction material, photos, newspaper clipping, or whatnot? Share it here and receive full credit for your contribution as well as a link back to you (should you so desire).

Have an old teachers manual and don't want it to go to someone who wouldn't use it or appreciate it? Donate it to DanceHistorian.com and it will be digitized and shared for generations to come!
